Hi Bill,   Pancrease is prescribed for several different conditions, among them people with inflammed pancreas and people who have had their pancreas removed. It is an enzyme that helps in digestion. If you are taking prevacid, then your doctor may have diagnosed you with acid reflux. You should ask your doctor if the pancrease would be beneficial for you given your history with acute pancreatitis.   Here is some information that will help you when you speak to your doctor. Make sure you have a paper and pencil to write down any questions you think of as you are reading the information.   You can read about GERD here in the overview and you can check your symptoms here in the symptoms database. You can read about Prevacid here and other medications for GERD here in the drugs database. You can also research treatments available and alternatives here in the treatments database. There is some information here about acute pancreatitis and a video here, with tips for relief.   I hope this information helps somewhat. Just remember that online sites like Health Central are wonderful resources for information, but they can not take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice. Take care and stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!Vicki M
