then a few days later I realise it's catarrh that's causing it. I cannot get rid of the catarrh. I have tried various medicines i.e Sudafet, Benilyn. My GP has just prescribed me Omeprazole Capsules as he thinks I have acid in the stomach. When I read the leaflet from the capsules, there is no mention of them treating catarrh. Should I take the capsules?

Hi Jacqueline,
I don't think the term catarrh is used widely. I had not seen it before. According to Wikipedia, Catarrh is another word for mucus or phlem. So that might be why you don't see it on the medicine bottles.
It is possible you have a sinus infection that might be causing the mucus. Your doctor is treating you for acid reflux, but that would not necessarily treat the mucus. Mucus drip however can cause your persistent cough.

Acid reflux can cause sore throats and catarrh so take the meds it will eliminate a possible cause.
to help with the sore the sore throat try 1tbs of honey,lemon juice and cider vinegar

I take omepraole for my stomach and have catarrh in my throat. The omeparzole trreats my stomach but does nothing for my throat.
