Sunday, June 29, 2008 Peter Coleman-Wright asks

Q: I have been getting terrible asthma from my reflux. I am an opera singer who has been taking nexium

for some time now and although I don't get much heartburn have terrible catarrh. What can I do?

Hi Peter,

 

I would consult with your doctor about other medication options. A different proton pump inhibitor might work better for you in terms of limiting the cararrh. I've read that aciphex sometimes works better for people. I don't know how often you are taking nexium, but you may also need to increase your dosage.
