Q: Is it better for an infant to be on soy instead og milk based formula if they have acid reflux?

Is it better for an infant to be on soy instead of milk based formula if they have acid reflux? Or does it not make a difference?

Hello Sarah,

You are asking an excellent question. Diet is a very important treatment for an infant with reflux. Both dairy and soy protein can be difficult to digest, especially for an infant with digestive issues. You might want to discuss the formula options with the doctor. Some doctors recommend a hypoallergenic formula or thickened formula. Your doctor will know all of the options and what is best for the symptoms.

My daughter threw up her bottle every time when she drank milk based formula. I switched her to soy based formula and it was a like a miracle for her..no more throwing up. She was still able to drink regular milk after she got older though, about a year later.
