Q: can you die from acid reflex disease

Unfortunately, yes. While this isn't necessarily a common cause of death. Esophageal cancer is becoming more common. Also, people can bleed out from an untreated ulcer. Unfortunately, people also die every year from what they think is reflux but is instead symptoms of an impending heart attack. It's very important to have a thorough evaluation if you suspect reflux so that you can be accurately diagnosed and treated.

I had stomach problems and went to a gastro doctor. He did a test and I found out I had gerd.  Itryed many medicines and none of them worked, finnally he put me on prilosec and it works.  Sometimes I get bothered by spicy foods.I then take a couple of tums. I know now i can't eat spicy or fried foods. I have never heard of anyone dying.
