Yes, GERD and Acid reflux can cause asthma like symptoms. One drop of acid cant trigger it. That is what my allergist told me. I would see a GI doc and also an allergist who can check your lung capacity. Also there is such a thing called vocal cord dysfunction which can be diagnosed by a speech therapist. Google it and you will see that you can experience asthma symptoms from this. Get your reflux controlled first.
Hi Lynn,
I have a very similar problem. I have been to emergency a few times really struggling for breath and have also seen many doctors. I'm not asthmatic and my lungs are fine, but my breathing is problem. I'm also very sensitive to sprays and strong smells for some reason..something I never experienced as a child.
So far I've had no answers... Most doctors suggest i'm being dramatic or maybe my nerves are playing tricks on me.. but I know these symptoms are genuine. has anyone shed anylight on yours yet?
Take care,
Lees
