Q: what are some home remedys that can help relieve acid reflux

ive been diagnosed with acid reflux today. they gave me nexium to treat it with. is there anything else that i can take or eat or drink that will help reduce my acid reflux symptoms. ive been told that lemon juice and pineapple juice help.

Both lemon juice and pineapple juice are acidic. Pineapple juice in particular makes my reflux flare. You may want to read about the preventive things that can be done for reflux as well as dietary considerations in reflux. Also, Jennifer Rackley our nutritionist has written more about some of the more commonly discussed home remedies.

Whenever I am having a flare up I eat plain apple sauce.  The apple sauce seems to neutralize some of the acid in the stomach.  I buy Motts individual cups and keep them at work in the car...hope that helps.
