Q: I also have a 12 year old daughter who has been complaining alot lately about her stomach.

Mostly after she eats, and when its time for bed. Today she had oranges and started complaining immediately and then once it was some chocolate. Those aren't the only two things but just to name a few, once she complained about a bad taste in her mouth and also feeling like something was in her throat. I know you can't diagnose, but does this sound like it could be GERD or acid reflux?

Her symptoms are similar to those of reflux. Unfortunately with kids they've often felt bad for so long they don't realize it's not a normal feeling. My daughter had severe reflux as a baby. We stopped meds at 4, at 6 she started talking about how things felt. By 9 she was back on meds.

You may want to discuss her symptoms with her doctor. Often they will do a med trial to determine if it helps things. They may also want her to do lifestyle changes like avoiding OJ. But, seeing a doc about it can really help narrow down her symptoms and help her realize if there are more symptoms than she realizes.
