Hi Concerned Mom,   Bilirubin is the break down of Hemoglobin. Doctors test this to monitor liver and gallbladder dysfunctions. This test is useful in determining if a patient has liver disease or a blocked bile duct.   I am not sure what is considered high and I didn't see anything about specific numbers. Online sites like Health Central are wonderful resources for getting the information you need to ask the questions to manage your care, but they can not take the place of your doctor's sound medical advice.   If your daughter's doctor is testing the Bilirubin, there is a reason. It would be best to speak to your daughter's doctor. I hope this helps. Please do stay in touch and let us know how you and your daughter are doing!Vicki M
