Q: Do i have acid reflux?

i get heartburn from everything and my son has acid reflux he is now 19 months old but we found out for him at 5 months old. Is acid reflux genetic or heritary..and do i have it.

My problem is is that almost everything i eat gives me heartburn real bad...some pizza's don't but even just smelling the foods give me heartburn. And i thought since my son has it...that maybe he got it from me and if so how do i fix it. I also am having problems with my hair it has stoped growing and is real brittle and not much of it. Plus the fact that i don't hardly sleep anymore. I never feel well and i take Zantac 75 whenever heart burn starts but tonight it isn't working all the way. I just need answers because i'm tired of living this way. Please help me.

You really need to see a doctor about this. I am concerned about the hairloss as it can occur with a vitamin deficiency or with thyroid problems which are common after childbirth. You also need to see someone about the reflux specifically as it seems like you are not getting adequate relief with the Zantac on an as needed basis.

Yes, reflux can run in families. It does run in my family. But, it can also happen in anyone with no one else in the family having it. For me, I had reflux as a baby but didn't have significant issues again until I was in my early 30s.

Check out the symptoms of hypothyroidism here:

I am very sorry you can't see a doctor, that must be scary knowing that there's something going on. If you read the symptoms of hypothyroidism and it fits you may need to figure out if there is a free clinic in your area. Most areas have them but finding them can be tricky.
