Hello J.T. Feldman,   There have been a couple folks online who have experienced issues after having food poisioning. There is a posting here where a user named Gozer talks about the reflux starting with a run in with food poisioning. There is also an article here about the affects of e-coli on the stomach that might give you some insight on what happens when your system is challenged with bad food.   Dr Todd Eisner answered some questions back in December and one of them asked about Papaya juice benefits for acid reflux. Here is his answer. Apparently Papaya juice has Papain in it which is beneficial for some folks suffering with acid reflux. Also, pineapple has enzymes that aid in digestion, and boiling chicory for a tea has soothing properties.     Jan Gambino, resident expert here also talks about a book that has lots of natural remedy tips. You can read that article here, and about Jan Gambino here.     There is also a sharepost here where members gave some tips for natural remedies. There is also a video here that will give you tips on sleeping and how to avoid acid reflux at night.   I hope you find this information helpful, however no online information can take the place of your doctor's advice. Only you and your doctor know what is best for you. This information will help you in forming the questions you want to ask your doctor.   Vicki M
