There are some preventive things that seem to work at least in part for most of us. They include smaller more frequent meals, avoiding trigger foods, keeping a food log, avoiding eating late at night, sleeping with your bed elevated, exercising, losing weight, etc. There are some people who say that certain foods such as papaya or apple cider vinegar help but there are no studies to show this and I know that any vinegar makes my stomach a mess.
