Q: with symptoms below do i have acid reflux?

I get chest pains mostly in the sternum and in between my breast area, i feel it worse after eating spicy foods, i also get like a tight pressure feeling, i have been on nexium for a month and my berium meal and x-rays came out clear, the doctor says i could have acid reflux is this correct? How long does it take to heal?

Thanks for your question. Chest pains behind the breastbone can often be a symptom of acid reflux. However, only your doctor can diagnose them as being acid reflux in you. Continue to talk to him or her about your condition.

 

According to its drug information, Nexium is prescribed for 4 to 8 weeks. Your doctor can also give you a better idea of how long you should take it.
