Babies with Reflux--Delays Starting to Smile?

Topics:Infant Acid Reflux

My twins are almost 11 weeks old and have acid reflux.  The were first on Zantac, but that didn't help.  They've now been on Prevacid for about a week and a half, and that seems to be helping.  However, I'm very concerned that they have not yet started smiling.  I'm wondering if they're not smiling because they don't feel well from the reflux.  I'm hoping it's not that something else is wrong.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello L&J's Mom!

Congratulations on your bundles of love!! It's been a lifetime since I had babies so small. My only memory of them smiling at that age is when they had gas! ;)

There are several resident experts who will probably answer your question alot better than me. Let me direct you to a couple of them.

Jan Gambino is a resident expert here and she has written many share posts sharing her experiences with her "refluxers" yes there are two! You can read those postings here.

Tracy Davenport is also a resident expert and mom to a refluxer with complications of allergies! You can read about Tracy here and  read her postings here.

Good luck and please stay in touch. Let us know how L & J are doing!
