when you are on omeprazole, how quickly does it heal or at least stop one's symptom?
it is now the fourth day that i have been taking omeprazole for the heartburn, chest pain and nausa that I have. I see little improvment. I just wanted to know if my condition is severe or not? shall i see a doctor again or not? My nausa and heartburn have lessened however I have chestpain?
Regards,
Wali
It might be best to see a doctor to confirm what is actually happening. If you are having chest pain still, there could be something as simple as costochondritis (inflammation of a rib - usually harmless but uncomfortable) or something serious. The rule of thumb is, when in doubt with chest pain, don't wait. Omeprazole usually starts to help within a couple of days (2 for me). If you've had chest pain continuously for that long, I would go to the ER - now! Or call your doctor. A couple of times I had chest pain that didn't quite feel like reflux or muscle pain. Once they did an EKG right in the office - I was fine. Another time, he said it's probably costochondritis. He could give me a cortisone shot, but it wasn't that bad, so I went home and took Celebrex. (You could try ibuprofen or something like that...) Mine was gone the next day. I get it occasionally, it comes and goes. But steady chest pain - get it checked out!!
