Do you think it is in my blood stream?--and will travel on to another organ..Treated 2005, rtn'd higher up 2 yrs later in lymph node & outside of esophegeous.  Has not shown in last 2 Pet Scans during the last yr. anywhere.  Will I be a victim of the "five yr. rule"?  Ca has not shown up at original site again.  It's in my blood, right...

Heather, I am so sorry about your situation. I don't have any answers about your specific situation, but I can say that if you have had radiation and chemo, that should have knocked any of the cancer out. When it returned, you had chemo and rads again right? I can only compare to breast cancer treatment and really believe that the chemo and rads knocked it out. If I get cancer again... I will hope that another cycle of treatment gets it again. If your doctor(s) have treated you again when it returned and you have had clear scans since then, please be positive that it is GONE. I really don't think that cancer remains in the bloodstream. Did you get cancer as a result of acid reflux? I am scared that this is what I am up against if I don't take care of it. Wishing you the best. Kathy
