it only happens once a day but can be at any time there is no pattern to it. he is not ill in any other way. he has app with peadiatrician in 4 weeks

Hello Wendy,
So this vomiting came on without warning? No history of reflux or food allergies? No other health issues or illnesses? changes to his diet? I am sure you are worried. It seems like a long time to wait to see the pediatrician. Be sure to let the doctor know if he seems to be losing weight, dehydrated or experiences pain or distress. Then the doctor would need to see him sooner.
