My 4 year old was just diagnosed with Reflux. She had severe reflux as an infant and has been fine ever since. My pediatrician told me to take her to an ENT because of the crupe cough that she gets everytime she gets a cold. He would normally put her on prednisolone and I didn't like her getting all of those steroids. So, we saw the ENT who put a camera up her nose and down her throat and saw reflux. My problem with this is that she has no other reflux symptoms, other than getting the hiccups often. She does not complain of any pain, burning, etc. She does not burp alot, cough, clear throat, throw up, or any of the other symptoms. The ENT put her on Prevacid. Is any medication necessary since she only shows signs of this when she gets a cold? Or could there be damage being done on her larynx because of this? I have not started her on the meds yet as I don't know if she needs them. What does anyone think?
