Q: Yogurt for Barrett's disease

Can I eat yogurt for Barrett's disease? Is it helful?

There are no studies showing that Barrett's is helped by yogurt. Most studies show that once you have the cellular changes of Barrett's are there they don't go back to normal and you are at an increased risk of esophageal cancer. It is important to note that although the risk is increased you aren't definitely going to get cancer but should be monitored more frequently.

 

Yogurt and beneficial bacteria supplements have been shown to aid digestion though which may have the effect of helping to decrease increased acidity and digestive issues.
