I get a raspy voice (that is hard to clear) and the doctors have determined it is from Gerd - everything else is normal, what can be done to help this? I do take Protonix daily. This is really a bother, I am on the phone a lot in my job.

There is a correllation between Acid Reflux and Asthma/Allergy symptoms. Your raspy voice is probably part of that relationship. There is a good article about the findings of a study on the relationship of asthma and acid reflux. You can read it here.

Once you have seen your doctor, if he prescribes medication for GERD, you can read about them here in the drugs database. You mentioned that your doctor prescribed Protonix. Protonix (Pantoprazole) works by blocking acid production in the stomach. This medication is known as a proton pump inhibitor. You can also research treatments available and alternatives here in the treatments database.
