Thanks for your question. You should always ask your doctor any questions you have about treatment, since he or she is the one recommending you for the test.   You may find this overview of GERD diagnosis helpful. The only mention of blood tests is on page 3, where it says that "blood tests for anemia should be performed if bleeding is suspected." However, you should ask your doctor why he recommended one for you.
