4 month old, can acid reflux get in his lungs
born at 31 weeks, doctors say that acid is getting into his lungs when he spits up, eating his lungs. is there any treatment for this or some underlying reason??
Hello!
Reflux that is causing complications such as irritating the lungs is called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or GERD. The pediatrician or a pediatric Gastroenterologist will develop a treatment plan that often includes: diet, positioning and medication. My daughter had breathing problems from reflux and a Pediatric Pulmonologist was a very important member of her care team.
