I don't eat for 3-4 hours before I go to bed, something that takes a little time getting used to sometimes, but if you continue to have reflux yr. after yr., you could easily develope barratts (sp) esophogus, or like me, I will usually vomit or cough insessently until I do get up and vomit.  The food is coming back up your esophogus as either your sphyincter which closes of your esop. is not working properly, (the flap leaks and lets acid go back upwards) of it is damaged due to acid.  Try eating as little as possible for as long as possible before laying down, and try to sleep with an extra pillow, or elevate only the top portion of your bed.  Please do something before you get cancer like I did at 45.  God Bless
