Q: Strange symptom with acid reflux

Due to diabetes, I'm on Metformin, Glipizide, Lisinopril, & Atenolol.  I do experience intermitten acid reflux and take OTC stuff for it.  Last night I woke up violently because my throat was closed & I was gasping for air.  I did feel the burning in the throat & the regurgitation after I finally could breath.  Is this a symptom of acid reflux/gerd?  Is it something to see my md over?  It really scared me and I want to figure this out.

You should have went to the ER immediately. But yes, sounds like acid reflux, but it also sounds like stress, and it also sounds like anxiety. The first thing to do is go to the ER 'or doc if you can get in quick enough' and get the basic test done. Like the egk, and blood work, and x rays, to make sure that its nothing serious. But, I cant believe that your question is should you follow up on it. YES, I almost wanna call you an idiot for not knowing. Go get checked.
