Hi Willie,

I am not sure if you have seen the doctor or know you have GERD, (acid reflux) If you have been diagnosed, there are some medications available over the counter. Those medications include prilosec (omeprazole) and zantac (rinatadine)to name a few. There are also some things you can do to help avoid an acid attack, like sleeping on your left side and a bit elevated. This keeps the acid from being able to come up into your esophagus. Stay away from common triggers for attacks, like caffeine, peppermint, spicy foods, smoking, etc.

Hope this helps. Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!

Hi Willie,

I went through a time without insurance or money also.  Do you have a local social services or government agency in your area?  Most places do.  I do not know you exact situation but they can help with financial trouble for doctors and medications or some states have low-income doctors that base it on you income/money level and some also have free clinics.  I wold check online into those agencies in your state/county/area.  Hope you can find some help.
