Wednesday, July 30, 2008 Laura Hay asks

Q: My 5 week old infant is not vomiting, but she will have cry out like she is in pain.

I feel like she has acid reflux.  She seems fussy sometimes after eating, but sometimes about 20 to 30 mins after eating she will have formula come up in her mouth.

Dear Laura,

I am sure you are worried about your daughter. Have you discussed your concerns with the doctor? It might help to keep a journal for about 3 days so when you go to the doctor, you will be able to describe a typical day.

You can note: feedings, sleep, crying, fussing and when she has formula in her mouth. She is still so tiny. It can take a while for her to become more organized in her feedings and awake times.

Let us know what you find out.

Best wishes,

Jan
