Q: Can I take Nexium at the same time I take levothroid, 1 hour before breakfast?

Will either nexium or levothroid inhibit the effectiveness or absorbtion of the other?  Or, will one counteract the other?  Or would I be better off taking the nexium 2 hours after I eat (as in "on an empty stomach") at night?

The prescribing information for Levothroid does not list Proton Pump Inhibitors as being contraindicated with it. You are not supposed to take anti-acids with it as they can block absorption but PPIs do not.

All that said, this is a question you should ask both your pharmacist and physician. It is very important that they know of all of the medications you take and when you take them. This way they can make sure you are getting the optimum benefit from all of them.
