Q: Coughing and choking symptoms.

All my life I have experienced sudden coughing and severe choking symptoms, not whilst I am eating or drinking. These attacks are very frightening and feel like you will never be able to breath another breath. They last a minute or so. Thankfully, they were very rare, but recently I have been getting more attacks. Over the last few years, I have also developed a hoarse voice and am constantly trying to clear my throat.

My doctor has now referred me to an Ear, Noise and Throat consultant as he is not sure if it is Acid Reflux problems. I do not get any pain or discomfort with indigestion or heartburn etc.

Does anyone have experience or this please?

Hello Cynthia, Your doctor is giving you excellent advice. An ears, nose and throat doctor will be able to evaluate your symptoms. Sometimes reflux quietly causes all of the symptoms you are decribing. Let us know what you find out.
