Q: I LOVE tomotes. I feel that they have more benefits than bad to discontinue. Your thoughts?

I live with GERD daily.  I grew up with tomotes and garlic and enjoy eating these great veges.  I really don't want to stop eating them.  I know they are on the "bad list", but the hugh benefits they provide and the wonderful taste they give keeps me hooked.  I try to limit them to early hours of the day.  Is there a way to continue to enjoy these great foods and not suffer "to drastically"!  I'll give up chocolate over a tomato!

Hello Lacy,

I love tomatos and garlic too-I understand your dilemma. If the foods are not triggering reflux, it is fine to continue eating these items. If you have to take a lot of medication to eat these foods, it is best to limit these foods to small amounts, once in a while.

Do you have symptoms when you eat tomatoes and garlic?

There's not a consistant pattern.  Only off and on.
