I do not know of a connection between the two except to tell you that it is possible that chest pain could have been attributed to acid reflux when it was cardiac in nature.  It is also true that some people have symptoms (like nausea) which may mimic acid reflux as well.

I would discuss the issue with your doctor and make sure that they explore any and ALL of your chest pain or heart palpatations.   A cardiologist should be able to tell you for sure the cause of the palpatations.  Many can be benign and nothing to worry about but with your family history I would get a work up as soon as possible.

Write a list with all of your symptoms and questions to take with you to your next appointment.  You may ask whether checking things like blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar would be useful in monitoring your health to put your wellness first!  Be sure to discuss any medications, including OTC meds, because there are some that can cause palpatations as well.  For me cold meds and too much caffience can be triggers.

I hope this answers your question and I am very sorry for your loss.
