Hi Kathy,

Everything I have ever read indicates that if there is chest pain and/or similar symptoms, cardiac causes should always be ruled out first. While online sites are great places to find information that will help you ask all the right questions, they can not take the place of a medical professional. There are lifestyle changes you can make that will benefit both acid refluxers as well as cardiac patients. You can read about them here in the overveiw section about acid reflux.

You can also check out the symptoms database for acid reflux here, and for the heart here.

Good luck. Please stay in touch and let us know how you and your husband are doing!
