If it's due to regular reflux then most people say that drinking or eating something helps. A piece of gum can increase saliva production which can help as well.
Alternately, you can talk to your doctor about using either chewable or liquid anti-acids such as Tums to help coat the throat and esophagus.
I know for me water does very little to help it helps when going down but then immediately I feel the burn again.

If it happens a lot you may want to consider going in earlier. Many of us occasionally experience reflux up into our throats or even nasal passages. My daugther described this when she was 4 as "Mommy, sometimes my mouth gets really hot." But, if it's happening a lot it can cause damage to your throat, mouth, teeth, sinuses, etc.

Thanks, Steph. I tried gum, but couldn't keep chewing it. Sipped a lot of water too. Took tums, ate some cottage cheese, drank some milk. I'm going to check with my Doctor on my next visit. It will be a couple of months before my next well checkup but I'll try to remember to post to you.
