Hi Sherri, There is alot of good information here at Health Central that will help you when it's time to speak to your daughter's doctor. While these sites are great resources, they can not take the place of your doctor's care and expertise. Here is some general information about Acid Reflux that will help you ask those all important questions.   You can read about GERD here in the overview and you can check your daughter's symptoms here in the symptoms database. Once you and she have seen the doctor, if he prescribes medication for GERD, you can read about them here in the drugs database. You can also research treatments available and alternatives here in the treatments database.   It is possible that the throat irritation is from acid reflux going into your daughter's esophagus. Acid Reflux can cause asthma like symptoms. You can read more about the symptoms here and in this sharepost Dr Todd Eisner talks about the throat issues including cough and raspiness of the voice.   I hope this information helps. Please let us know how you and your daughter are doing!Vicki M
