Are my symptoms common for acid reflux?
I am being treated for acid reflux (with medication) but am not sure if my symptoms fit the disease. My symptoms include: sore throat, swelling on both sides of the neck above the collarbone, difficulty swallowing, sensation of something pressing on adams apple. My symptoms are aggravated by talking, some physical activities, turning my head, standing or walking for extended periods of time.
I have had barium swallow which is normal. My symptoms do not include: heartburn, pain in esophagus or stomach, increased discomfort at night or while laying down. My condition also does not seem to be affected in any way by what I eat. I eat spicy and acidic foods with no change in discomfort level.
Has anyone ever heard of my symptoms being indicative of acid reflux?
Thanks for your question. Sore throat, difficulty swallowing and the sensation of having a lump in the throat can sometimes be symptoms of acid reflux. However, only your doctor can tell you what they mean in this case.
