There is an OTC proton pump inhibitor called Prilosec (omeprazole).  It is in the same class of drugs as Prevacid but is not the same medication.

Prilosec may or may not work as well for you as Prevacid.  Some people find one medicine works better than another.  You should discuss switching medications with your physician before you do so.

If you are looking for an OTC medicine due to the price of Prevacid you may want to check out the Beyond the Burn Program which offers a free savings card for $25 off your Prevacid each month for a year.
