Q: what about coughing phylem at night when you lie down. coughing after eating also.

I have been given antibiotic, every cough syrup imaginable, many things to stop a cough. Dr. now has me on acid reflux med, claratin & inhaler for breathing. I

usually cough after eating and at night. It is better since I have taken what Dr. gave me but it is still with me. For two months, I have gone to clinic and taken what they gave me and Dr. now has me on the above. When will I stop coughing?

The worst thing, it interupts my sleep.

I applaud you for figuring out that reflux can be a possible cause of your coughing symptoms. While most people think of reflux symptoms as heartburn there are a lot more less commonly known symptoms. Chronic cough and throat clearing are some of the uncommonly known symptoms of reflux. For my daughter and for me our first symptoms were in fact coughing, laryngitis and throat clearing. For me, only once it became the more typical symptoms did I realize that reflux was causing all of the other things as well.

Best of Luck - Stephanie
