I have this sharp pain in my lower right side that tends to go in my lower back. I'm wondering how much of this pain is constipation. It hurts when i make any type of sudden movement. It is worser when I lay down at night. please can you give me some idea of what is going on. My doctor tells me it is arthritis but i know there got to be something elsee going on.

Arthritis of what? Did he do x-rays to determine this?

Constipation can cause a lot of lower abdominal pain. The lower right quadrant is also where your appendix is (if you still have one). Do you suffer regularly from constipation? Does the pain seem to come and go according to how you are going? Do painkillers help the pain (this would help substantiate arthritis if they do help)?

If you aren't getting the answers you need, and if this has been going on for a while without relief, you may want to consider a second opinion.

I don't know she just said it was arthritis. No I didn't have any x-rays done and I still have my appendix. I had my gall bladder removed about 2 years ago. I never had to worry about being constipated until I got in my 40s. Yes, if I make any sudden moves or bend over to pick something up. Painkillers doesn't help.
