Q: I just read about Pantoprazole and osteoarthritis and am wondering about taking Caltrate daily

I just read about Pantoprazole and osteoarthritis and was surprized about the osteoporosis/arthritis side effect due to no calcium absorption  I take two Pantoprazole, 40 mg (one in the a.m. and one at night).  I also take Caltrate 600 +D twice daily  Is this enough to conteract the sideaffects?

Hello! I have been watching those studies too. My two refluxers are lactose intolerant so they can't eat a lot of dairy. I give them supplements every day. I have read that calcium is absorbed best from food rather than from pills. If your digestive system will tolerate it, try to get some calcium from food too.

When you go to your doctor, ask is you need to be screened for osteoporosis.

Take care,
