will acid reflux medication cause diarrhea?

My 90 yr old mother has reflux.  is taking 300 mg of Zantax + some Tums.  Now she's developed diarrhea for the past week.

Zantac does list diarrhea as a possible side effect. As this is a new symptom though and she's been having it for a week you should take her back to her doctor. Gastrointestinal bleeding can also cause diarrhea - if it is due to this it looks like coffee grinds. It is also possible she could be having an interaction with other medications she is taking.
