Q: why omeprasule 10 mg capsules is a prescreption , while omeprazole 20 mg tablet is OTC?

why prescribtion omeprazole is capsules , while the otc omeprazole are tablet ? also why 10 mg is prescreption although the higher dose 20 mg is otc ?

You can also get it as a prescription for 40 mg. I would assume they offer it in a smaller amount for very specific situations or possibly for children. I haven't heard of anyone taking 10 mg but it would be a place to start. You can't split the 20 mg since it's time released.
