Q: Is muscus buildup and coughing a stmptom of acid reflux?

I have had excessive muscus buildup in my throat which causes coughing. At times I can cough up and spit out this muscus. It is worst at night but does occur at times during the day. I have never smoked or drank alcohol . I have thought for years it was sinus drainage but the ENT doctor thinks it is acid reflux. I do not have heartburn or chest pain. I do however get choked on muscus and sometime throwup , mostly muscus. I have been taking prilosec every morning for about 2 years .It does prevent heartburn but does not help the muscus and coughing.

PLEASE HELP!  i AM A 67 YEAR OLD WHITE WOMAN WHO NEEDS HER SLEEP!
