Dear G Gold,

Many patients with GERD experience the sensation of acid coming up the esophagus (food pipe) as far as the throat and even the sinuses. At times, it may be such a small amount, you may not even notice it. If the acid is washing the throat and esophagus over and over again, it may irritate the area and cause the burning sensation you are experiencing.

I hope that answers your question.

Evidentially yes!  My symptoms are totally oral and its so frustrating because it doesn't seem to make any sense.  Even drinking really cold things make my symptoms worse. Eating raw vegetables and even salads must be hard to digest because they make me miserable and make eating healthy almost impossible.

I would like to hear from more people out there about this type of problem.  I guess I am lucky not to have the other symptoms....

I just started experiencing something similar.  Eating or drinking anything causes a burning in my mouth and throat --- like when it extra spicy food.
Between meals, it subsides.  Drinking water is not a problem.
No other stomach or chest pain.
And it has come on rather suddenly, not gradual.
Tagment and Tums seem to do nothing.
