Hello QMommy,   There is no one size fits all dose for GERD medication for babies. Weight and age are important factors in the doctor's decision.  Most babies feel better on a standard dose of medication. Some doctors start on a small dose and increase if needed. Others start on a high dose and then back off. It is likely you will need to visit the doctor more frequently until you and the doctor feel that you have some control over the symptoms. Remember, the medication may not eliminate the symptoms, but it often reduces the symptoms to a tolerable level. If not, the doctor might consider increasing the medication, changing the dosing (splitting the dose to two times a day, every 12 hours) or adding another treatment. I always encourage parents to try home care such as positioning, frequent burping, elevating the sleep surface and thickening feeds(if the doctor recommends). As you work out the treatment plan, be sure to keep in touch so we can offer our support. Jan Gambino The Reflux Mom
