Hi Sandra,   You can read about prevacid oral here in the drugs database. Prevacid is the brand name for LANSOPRAZOLE. It is a proton Pump Inhibitor and works by blocking the stomachs ability to make acid. According to the makers of Prevacid, here is the general ingredient listing. Your experience may vary depending on dosage and formulary:   "Each delayed-release capsule contains enteric-coated granules consisting of 15 mg or 30 mg of lansoprazole (active ingredient) and the following inactive ingredients: hydroxypropyl cellulose, low substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium carbonate, methacrylic acid copolymer, starch, talc, sugar sphere, sucrose, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, and titanium dioxide. Components of the gelatin capsule include gelatin, titanium dioxide, D&C Red No. 28, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Green No. 3*, and FD&C Red No. 40 (inactive ingredients)."   I don't see Lactose listed as an ingredient, but the best thing to do is ask your doctor or pharmacist. Especially if lactose is something you should avoid. Hope this helps!Vicki M
