Q: new to gerd, have been being treated but still have constant pain. please help.

Hi, i am a male 18 years old. i never really had problems with GERD before but now that i am more educated on it i see that i had symptoms in the past. Recently (about a month ago) it started becoming very noticeable and often so my doctor put me onomeprazole for 3 months. just a few days ago i was 1 month into my perscription and that night it hit me very hard. i dont know for sure what caused it but the pain was unbearable and i had called the doctor on call that night. they had told me i shouldnt be taking omeprazole for more than 2 weeks because it can be very hard on your stomach. so she recomended that i start taking pepcid ac. i have been taking that twice a day now for about 3 days. i have completely changed my diet. i have completely quit smoking. but it seems the pain goes on all day and all night long with no relief. ive taken tums, rolaids and other various antiacids and have no noticeable effect whatsoever. i cant sleep at all and i can barely eat. it is just beginining to drive me insane and there isint much for doctors in my area nor can i afford much. i havnt been dealing with it very long so i am still unexperienced with it, so if anyone can offer me some kind of pain relief ideas or anything i would appreciate it very much. its starting to interfere with my job and my life and i don't know what to do. thank you.
