Q: vomiting for a month. Doctos now say bacteria. why vomit only at night?

my son has been sick vomiting for a month.  in and out of doctors, vomiting yellow bile.  1st time doctors said viral infection.  then 5 days later the vomit started again, now they said food sensitivity and food poissoning.  He has been fine for 16 days, now again.  Tests show bacteria/food poisoning, he is fine during the day, eating maybe 1-2 crackers, and lots of water, around 7pm he starts vomiting again and stomach pain. The doctors keep saying this is normal, and say let the antibiotics and nausea and zantac do its stuff.  We are worried, he is 18, has lost over 15 pounds.

Hello Natasha and Zack's Mom,

It sounds like you both have a lot in common. Since you are concerned about the diagnosis and treatment, it might make sense to get a second opinion.

My son is 19 and and has been sick from food poisonong since August 13,2009. He has been diagnosed by a Gastroenteroligist with Post Bacterial Infectious Irritable Bowel Syndrom. He lost 22 lbs, but has since gained most of it back. He is now waking up in the middle of the night or early morning vomiting yellow or a thick grey and having severe abdominal pains. Then he will feel better for a few days. I am researching to see if a Bacterial Infection from food poisoning could effect your Gallbladder (cause irritation). He has had scopes, ct scans and a hyda-scan. The hyda-scan did show the Gallbladder was refluxing bile into the stomach (the Dr. is saying this is ok, it doesn't sound right to me). He is taking an acid-reducer, Librax and an anti-nausea med. It just seems he is at a point where he is not getting any better. It seems like he is getting sick at night because that is when his stomach becomes empty. I wish I had the answers for this, it has been going on for 5 months now.
