Q: Does stress start an attack of acid reflux

I am on holiday for 6 weeks staying with friends & I have started a severe attack of acid reflux.  I am wondering if the added stress of being away from home is causing the problem - it is hard to relax completely when in someone else's house.

Stress can definitely worsen reflux as can a routine change or dietary change. It is likely that you are eating different foods as well. I know for me, I often change my bathroom habits when vacationing with others (I can't always go when I need to) which has a detrimental effect on my reflux as well because constipation can cause reflux to worsen.
