Q: Possibly acid reflux after gallbladder removal??

When i wake up in the morning i get a severe pain, kinda like a hunger pain.. then it gets worse and it goes from my stomach, chest, and back. It lasts for about 2 minutes. When i eat it goes away faster. And then a lot through the day i get dull chest pains in my lower chest and upper abdomen. Is this normal? Does anyone have this? Also could this possibly be acid reflux? I have had my gallbladder out for about a month now.

I got my gallbladder out july 2008 almost a year ago. Shortly after the gallbladder was removed my throat was getting irritated. I seen my ENT he wasn't sure why it was but he gave me antibotics just in case it was a bacteria infection. Over the next couple months the throat was getting more irritated & i burp just by drinking water. I went back to my ENT months later becuase my throat was feeling kinda raw. He said it looks like it may be from acid. So he prescribed Prisolec. I took it for about a week it helped somewhat with the irritation of my throat. Now my throat is sore again & i now realize it is acid reflux but i've never had acid reflux other then a lil heartburn when i was big & pregnant. So i went and seen a gastro. doc & he did a endoscope but did not find any ulcer or anything abnormal. I asked him how i could suddenly get acid reflux after 37 yrs of never having this problem. He said it just happends & push his prescription of prisolec torwards me. I don't believe this just happend i believe there is a cause. Has anyone developed acid reflux after gallbladder removal??? It seems the systems got even worse after i was on anitbotics for about 2 wks in feb 2009. I am miserable with this acid reflux.Cry I don't want to take any drugs(ANTACIDS) that in the long run cause all kind other problems.

Hello I am going thru the same thing. I was treated for ulcers after my gallbladder surgery, which caused a lot of the same symptoms that your having. I know just have acid reflux, which is causing severe hunger pangs in the morning and sometimes at night. I am trying various meds as I am drug sensitive and it takes a while to find the right one.
