Q: Barretts Esophagus

I have Barretts Esophagus (acid reflux) and Heital Hernia, but no symptoms at all like heartburn or any pain caused from any food like tomatoes or orange juice. I was totally astonished when told, after an endoscopy, that I had acid reflux, much less Barret's!  I had had a few weeks of complete lack of appetite plus pills feeling like they were stuck in my esophagus. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy, so they just added the endoscopy to have a look. This was done by my gastrocnterologist.  A surgeon friend of mine said it sounded like I needed a fundoplication. My question is should I go that route or just aim to tackle the Barrets with lazer or something like that, and just keep on medication for the acid reflux?
