I getting very concerned because my GERD has resulted in nightly coughing attacks until I vomit.... my family is quite concerned should I be? Or should I continue to try to get better on my own with proper diet and no evening eating?

Hi Patricia,
While online resources are great sources for information about what might be ailing you, it can not and should not take the place of your doctor's advice. Hopefully you are seeing a doctor about this problem. Vomiting can cause a depletion of minerals and electrolytes, and cause dehydration, so make sure you are keeping yourself hydrated by drinking lots of fluids.
You can check all of your symptoms here in the symptoms database. You can also take an assessment here to determine if the vomiting is something associated with the acid reflux.
Hope this helps! Take care of yourself and stay in touch. Let us know how you are doing!
